Virginia Eva "Jean" Hyry of Lake Orion; born February 23, 1920 in Boston, Massachusetts; passed away April 4, 2009. Jean is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years Walter R. Hyry; her loving children Michael Gates, Patricia Bradley, Thomas (Dawn) Gates, Timothy Gates, Katherine (William) Carlsen and Donald (Kathy) Hyry; 12 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Jean graduated from Whidden Memorial in Boston, Massachusetts with a teaching degree and later worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Orion where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Van Dellen officiating. The family will receive friends at the Lake Orion Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home on Tuesday with suggested visiting hours of 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Interment Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice. Reflections may be shared by visiting www.sparksgriffin.com.
