BROWN, WALTER WAYNE, OF Addison Township, formerly of Rochester, passed away at his home on October 24, 2009, at the age of 92.Son of Charles M. (Lois V.) Brown. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 68 years, Eva G. Brown (nee Rewold). Dear father of Daniel R. (Debra) Brown, and Susan K (Thomas) Johnson. Also survived by one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Jack R. Brown. Mr. Brown was a world class amateur ski jumper during the 1930's, as a member of the Rochester Boys ski club, setting a record on the new ski slide at Bloomer State Park. His ski jumping talents landed him in the elite 10th Mountain Division, 87th Regiment in WW II. During the war, he proudly served in both the Pacific and European Theaters. Returning to Rochester, Mr. Brown worked most of his life as a finish carpenter until he moved to Addison Township. Memorial service on Saturday October 31st at 11:00 a.m. from the Oxford United Methodist Church 21 E. Burdick St. Oxford (1 block east of M-24 in downtown Oxford). The Brown family will receive friends on Friday October 30th at the Lake Orion Chapel, Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home (248-693-8336) from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The Brown family suggests memorials be made to Honor Flight of Michigan, or Michigan Animal Rescue League, in lieu of flowers.
