On Monday, November 7, 2022, Whitney Elizabeth Hadley (Baird), a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away surrounded by close family at the age of seventy-three. Born on February 21, 1949, to June and William Baird in Toledo, Ohio. Whitney graduated from Grosse Pointe High and went on to have a successful advertising career. Whitney started her career at Campbell Ewald in the early 1980s and quickly moved up the corporate ladder. Whitney’s advertising sales career took off in 1986 when she helped launch Automobile Magazine and was the first female to sell for an auto buff book. Over the course of her distinguished career, she was an executive sales leader at Time Warner, The New Yorker and retired in 2007 from Hearst Corporation as the Regional Vice President of Sales.
Whitney married Michael N. Hadley in 1996. They were together for over twenty-five years. Whitney loved spending time reading on her dock, enjoying the lake, and spending time with family. Whitney’s zest for life will be one of the greatest things she is remembered for. Whitney is survived by her husband, Michael Hadley, children, Michael Mumaw and Ben (Jessica) Mumaw, stepchildren, Ryan and Corbin Hadley and grandchildren, Ike, Vivian, Harrison Mumaw and her beloved Weimaraner Maya.
After retirement, Whitney had nothing to do and all day to do it, as she would say. With time on her hands, Whitney searched out volunteer work with dogs. Whitney found her passion for volunteer work at Leader Dogs for the Blind. Whitney spent over ten years, two days a week volunteering as a Vet Tech helping future Leader Dogs recover from surgeries. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Leader Dogs for the Blind in Whitney’s Honor.
A celebration of Whitney’s life will be hosted by Michael Hadley, her children Ben (Jessica) & Michael Mumaw on November 18, 2022, at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, 111 East Flint St. Lake Orion, MI 48362 from 11am to 3pm.
