William John Bentz; was born on May 27, 1933, in Lapeer County. Bill was a loving father, devoted friend, and a proud veteran of the United States Army.
Bill's family meant the world to him, and he found his greatest joy in spending time with them. Whether it was holiday gatherings or reunions, Bill was at his happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. He was a man of simple pleasures and enjoyed golfing and hunting. Bill could often be found on the golf course, relishing in the sport he loved. As a passionate hunter, he hosted hunter gatherings at his cabin in Oscoda, creating cherished memories with his friends and family.
Bill served his country with honor and dedication in the U.S. Army from May 18, 1953, to April 30, 1955. He would often share fascinating stories about his military service, showcasing his deep pride in his time serving our nation.
Following his military service, Bill began his career in federal civil service at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, where he held various positions. He later transitioned to the Army Tank Plant in Warren, working as a Planner/Estimator until his retirement.
Bill's strong faith led him to worship at King of Kings in Lake Orion. He found solace and community in his religious practices.
A wake in honor of Bill will be held at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 5pm with visitation from 3pm until the time of service. Those who wish to pay their respects are welcome to attend.
In memory of Bill, contributions can be made to his church, King of Kings , as well as various Veterans Groups. Bill's generous spirit extended to supporting these causes close to his heart.
Bill is survived by his daughters Shellie Bentz, Kellie (Joe) Peelish and Jane (Marshal) Burns; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons William "Billy" Bentz and John Bentz.
Bill will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warm smile, love for family, and passion for life will forever be remembered. Bill Bentz, 90, of Lake Orion, Michigan, passed away on August 21, 2023.
