William Donald "Buddy" Harris; departed this life on October 6, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was the son of the late Nathan and Margaret Harris. Buddy attended the Pontiac Public Schools and graduated from Pontiac Central. He served in the U.S. Air Force and upon discharge was employed at General Motors for 37 years. He became Pontiac's first Golden Glove Champ. Buddy "Shabazz" was a Congo player until his health failed him. He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Tonia R. Harris, Barbara Harris-Friend and Terri Woodard of Austin, Texas; one son Anthony (Glynis) Shannon of Canton and the late Cynthia Harris-Schultz. Buddy is also survived by one step-son Lynn Cummings of Pontiac; step-daughters Nikita Alomia of Denver, CO and Chewanna Copeland of Pontiac; seven grandchildren, Detrice and Chelita Schultz of Pontiac, Ashley White of Cucamonga, CA, Tiffany White of Royal Oak and Kendra of Canton; two great grandchildren Djanee and Anthony May Jr., and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 12:00 noon at New Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 204 W. New York, Pontiac with Anthony Shannon, Pastor, Biship William H. Murphy officiating. Family hour will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 at the Pontiac Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home. Burial Perry Mount Park Cemetery.
